DJ Zanni :: Bio

DJ ZanniIt was early 2000 in the small confines of a venue called The Groove Jet in South Beach. Two world-renowned DJs known as Sasha & Digweed had the crowd in a frenzy canvassed by the sounds of deep progressive house. This was DJ Zanni’s baptism into the realm of house music.

Christian Zanni’s musical career spans over 17 years. His knowledge and overall music foundation has been built on musical theory, guitar playing, lyric writing, composition and production. Always eager to push the envelope of sound, DJ Zanni has found himself fueled to find perfection in music. In the early 90s DJ Zanni managed to form a couple of different bands in high school. In 1991 he had formed a joint venture with his really good friend Edmund Auger. The two had formed a small band forged by great chemistry.  By 1993, the two had recorded an album and found themselves playing live music at multiple venues throughout the rest of their high school years. Ultimately, it was Edmund who would introduce Zanni to the world of house music by the end of that decade.

In 2002 driven by the desire to increase his knowledge of the electronica scene, DJ Zanni moved to San Diego, California where he started his own promotions and event planning company called SunPaste Productions. Under the SunPaste umbrella, he sponsored several events and managed a handful of different House DJs. After a couple of successful events, DJ Zanni decided to pull the plug and focus his time on music and writing.

As a journalism graduate, DJ Zanni found the opportunity to freelance and handle the editorial operations for North and South America for Xpander.nl, now recognized as 365mag.com. It was here that he would get to speak with some of dance music’s greats and truly understand and respect the art and trade of DJing and Production. DJ Zanni interviewed artists such as Sander Kleinenberg, Markus Schulz, Nick & John Dalagelis, Promoters Cookie & Ramiro of Mexico, Ebon, Danny Howells, EvryDayDowners, Sharam Tayebi of Deep Dish, Renato Cohen, Charlie May, Kazell, Chris Dee & Ben Shaw and Vicenzo to mention a few. He continues to freelance on an ongoing basis.

In 2005 DJ Zanni moved to Dallas, Texas where he currently resides and holds several residencies. Today he finds himself architecting sets built on the philosophy that each song is carefully calculated via its beat, melody, location in the set and overall progression. Each moving part complementing the next. His style reflects the fluid sounds of progressive, deep, tech and electro house. In the end, he aims at sharpening and shaping his style into what one day he hopes to achieve – a signature sound.
